About IEYI

First established in Tokyo in 2004, the International Exhibition for Young Inventors (IEYI) has grown into a distinguished international platform for youth innovation and cross-cultural exchange, now encompassing nearly 40 member countries and regions worldwide. IEYI 2026 brings together young inventors and artists at the iconic National Aquatics Center in Beijing to showcase creativity, share ideas, and forge lasting international friendships.

Create

Stimulate scientific thinking and foster core competencies in critical thinking, problem-solving, and design knowledge through hands-on invention.

Competition Categories

Participants may enter as an Invention team or submit an Artwork entry — but not both simultaneously.

Up to 3 members per team. One person may not be on more than one team.
Age Groups
Junior: under 14 years old
Senior: 14 years old and above
Presentation
Max 3 minutes in English. Posters (A0 or smaller), slides, or video are permitted.

Disaster Management / Safety & Health

Inventions for detection and/or prevention of natural disasters, post-disaster management, or contributions to individual safety and health through devices, systems, or practical solutions.

Entertainment & Sports / Education

Inventions that enhance recreational activities, sports, or entertainment experiences; or tools useful in classrooms and other educational settings.

🌾

Sustainable Agriculture Technology

Inventions that improve the quality of agricultural practices or address modern food security issues through systems, technologies, or products. Note: living organisms may not be used.

Convenient Living

Inventions for improving convenience in everyday life — from cleaning tools and kitchen gadgets to household solutions that make daily routines simpler and more efficient.

Social Care

Inventions enhancing convenience and accessibility for individuals from minority groups, those with disabilities or special needs, or the elderly — promoting inclusivity and independence.

Visionary Technologies

Green Technology & Sustainability; inventions using Aerospace Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and/or the Internet of Things (IoT) to advance human civilization.

📐 Invention Specifications

  • Weight: No more than 10 kg
  • Size: No more than 1 m in width or length (no height limit). If exceeded, use a miniature model.
  • Power: No power supply is provided on-site. Inventions must be self-powered or battery-operated.
  • Safety: No explosives, corrosives, poisonous substances, or combustible materials.
  • Materials: Must be durable, non-perishable, and safe. No living organisms.

Artwork Category

Theme: "Science of Tomorrow"

Use your imagination to create a vision of the "Science of Tomorrow" — what will the future be like? What new science and technology will we have? How will the environment and our daily lives change? Artwork submissions are individual entries that express scientific imagination through visual art.

Individual entries only — artwork must be drawn by one person.
B4 drawing paper (38 cm × 27 cm), presented in 2D form.
Any traditional drawing tools are accepted (paint, crayons, markers, etc.).
Include a title and description of no more than 300 words.
Presentation: max 3 minutes in English. Posters (A0 or smaller), slides, or video are permitted.

  • • Work that infringes copyrights or portrait rights
  • • Entries that deviate from socially accepted norms

Note: Only contestants physically attending IEYI 2026 in Beijing are eligible for Trophies, Medals, Special Awards, and Audience Choice Awards. All entries must be accompanied by their creators to qualify for judgment.
